Your Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Commercial Manager to join our growing team. Reporting to the General Manager- Commercial and Supply Chain, you will be responsible for managing a project specific commercial and procurement team ensuring the administration, financial and contractual outcomes of a project whilst optimising project margin and protecting the business from commercial risks and maintaining Primero’s high credibility.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining a comprehensive working knowledge of the head contract and of the precedent forms of contract.
- Ensuring that all notices are administered in accordance with specified timing requirements.
- Completing all contract administration tasks in a timely, accurate and efficient manner consistent with industry practice, the business processes and procedures and project requirements.
- Maintaining awareness and reporting on the changing commercial risk throughout the duration of the project life cycle.
- Managing the project start-up requirements with the preparation of template documents, system implementation, commercial induction packs and other procedural requirements
- Ensure timely issuance of insurance certificates to the client and all insurances remain compliant for subcontractors.
- Managing the reporting of all commercial and procurement risks across the project
- Managing the preparation, assessment and submission of progress claims to client and progress schedules to the subcontractor’s ensuring compliance with Security of Payment legislation.
- Management and submission of head contract variation requests, extension of times, and delay and disruption claims in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contract, ensuring strict compliance within requisite timeframes.
- Managing the review and determination of all subcontract variations requests, extension of times and delay and disruption claims and finalised variations in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contract, ensuring strict compliance within requisite timeframes.
- Manage the commercial closeout of all assigned contracts across the project ensure release and waivers provide where appropriate and all lessons learned are recorded.
- Managing the preparation of tender documentation and packs for release to the market for all project supply of materials, fabrication, services and installation as required.
- Management of the procurement process for all scopes from EOI through to award as determined by the projects.
What You ‘Can Do’
- Relevant degree or tertiary qualification.
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in procurement and contract administration within the construction industry
- Minimum 4 years’ experience working as a Commercial Manager in the construction industry.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey messages clearly and effectively through various means, including verbal, non-verbal and written forms.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse contractual / legal issues and provide solutions through appropriate problem solving techniques.
- Sound commercial acumen accompanied by proven negotiation and inter-relationship skills evidenced by effective dispute resolutions.
- Demonstrating a commitment to HSE through, personal example, leadership and participation in established working practices
