Your Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Advisor or Senior Human Resources Advisor to join our Project team based onsite on a FIFO 2:1 roster. This is a high impact role suited to a confident, pragmatic and solutions focused HR professional who thrives in fast paced, high pressure environments and can operate effectively in a unionised setting. You will play a key role in partnering with site leadership to influence workforce outcomes, manage complex ER/IR matters, and provide clear, sound advice.
In this site based role, you will report to the off-site Human Resources Manager and be supported by the offsite centralised HR Team. You will be trusted to operate autonomously on site, providing credible, solutions focused advice while building strong relationships with both leadership and workforce.
In addition to supporting day to day HR functions onsite you will also be assisting with delivering training, supporting leadership with consultation obligations, resolving ER/IR matters, and engaging with onsite based teams and employees.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Partner with senior leaders to lead and advise on complex ER/IR matters, including ROE processes, case management, end-to-end investigations, performance management, complaints and grievances, resolution of workplace and disciplinary issues.
- Engage confidently with unions and employee representatives, supporting the business in managing interactions, consultation processes, and industrial matters in a practical and commercially sound manner.
- Build relationships with unions, industry bodies, contractors and senior leadership to ensure alignment on key industrial relations issues.
- Identify, assess and provide clear recommendations on people related risks and issues, enabling informed and timely decision making.
- Work closely with the centralised HR function on the implementation of cyclical HR programs.
- Coordinate the identification and analysis of people-related issues and formulate options and recommendations to resolve the matter.
- Interpret and make decisions in accordance with the relevant industrial instrument.
- Work in collaboration with other business units such as Recruitment and Onboarding, Learning and Development and Payroll.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation (including the Fair Work Act 2009, National Employment Standards and relevant industrial instruments).
- Prepare and present reports regarding HR metrics.
- Support and facilitate leadership development training.
What You ‘Can Do’
- Tertiary and/or bachelor’s degree qualification in Human Resources or a similar discipline.
- 3 + years’ experience within the mining, construction, engineering or resources sector.
- Previous FIFO and onsite experience highly regarded
- Demonstrated experience operating in a unionised environment and managing industrial relations matters is essential.
- High level of knowledge and practical experience in contemporary human resource issues across the full employee lifecycle
- Resilient, confident and comfortable handling challenging conversations and competing stakeholder perspectives.
- Strong working knowledge of employment legislation and industrial relations frameworks
- Confidence in navigating HR systems and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels
- Ability to take initiative and work independently as part of a team.
- Strong planning and time management skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities
- Ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships.
- Excellent understanding of, and ability to apply, the principles of confidentiality.
- Well developed stakeholder management skills and a professional, service oriented mindset
