Your Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Electrical Engineering team continuing the development and implementation of the E&I functions within Primero.
This role will initially be commencing onsite on a FIFO 2:1 roster for a period of approximately 6-9 months assisting with Project Engineering duties on one of our large scale Construction projects.
The role will then return to our head office on a full time, Monday – Friday basis.
The successful candidate will have strong demonstrated skills working across both design and project engineering disciplines.
Your Key Responsibilities
Senior Project Engineer (Site Based):
- Proactively communicate with the electrical superintendents, electrical supervisors and senior engineers and stay abreast of project communication to autonomously develop and manage work tasks and priorities
- Communicate with the electrical supervisors and leading hands to understand daily construction progress and capture in the QMR to support project tracking
- Read and interpret specifications, technical drawings, schematics, and any other engineering documentation /report.
- Perform calculations for site modification and general site engineering problem solving using engineering formulas and skills with assistance from Perth office.
- Compile and maintain workpacks of relevant electrical design information to support construction works by the site electrical team e.g drawings, cable schedules, model shots
- Provide technical support to the electrical supervisors, leading hands and electricians for execution of the workpacks.
- Communicate with the design team to resolve issues identified with design information in preparing and executing workpacks
- Communicate with the planning team to resolve issues identified with data entry into QMR
- Redline markup design information with site as constructed information where there are differences
- Provide engineering support to close out completion of construction activities e.g. participate in walkdowns, ITRs and punch lists documentation
- Communicate and work with the site project engineers to develop and maintain various trackers with the aim to provide visibility on location and quantity of construction materials, e.g. cables, instruments, equipment
- Site verification of deliveries and engineering support for orderly storage of construction materials
Senior Electrical Engineer (Office Based)
- Ensure compliance of Electrical and Instrumentation documents and drawings with the company Design Procedure
- Assist the Lead or Principal Engineer with completing deliverables on time and budget
- Produce electrical and instrumentation designs that comply with applicable legislation, standards, client, third party and project requirements.
- Ensure designs are fit for purpose and consider all aspects including, cost, constructability, operability and maintainability.
What You ‘Can Do’
- Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (recognised by IEAust).
- 5+ years’ experience within Electrical Engineering (both project & design).
- Knowledge and practical application of relevant industry codes of practice.
- Knowledge and practical application of design theories, principles and practices.
- Strong level of expertise in technical detail of Electrical Engineering.
- Knowledge and previous demonstrated experience as a Project Engineer working on construction and commissioning projects in Australia (and overseas).
- Proven ability to work efficiently and effectively within a multi-discipline environment.
- Proven ability to work autonomously or as a part of team.
- Strong problem-solving and planning skills.
- Demonstrate previous site experience on a major mining/energy construction project.
- Commissioning experience desirable.
