Your Opportunity
Primero is seeking an HSE Superintendent to join our projects team working on a newly awarded project. This is a long-term project on a 2:1 roster.
In this role, you will provide HSE guidance to the Project Management team, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and supporting health and safety initiatives. You will assist site supervision and workers with daily HSE matters and incident investigations while playing a key role in implementing the Health & Safety Management Plan, Environmental Management Plan, and Emergency Response Plans. Additionally, you will coach and support HSE advisors and officers, fostering a strong safety culture across the project.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Demonstrate commitment to HSE through leadership and participation in HSE initiatives on site and throughout the company.
* Drive the implementation of Primero HSE procedures and legislative requirements on site in accordance with the Primero project specific HSE Management Plan.
* Amend and update project specific HSE plans as required.
* Supply Corporate HSE policies, procedures, and legal information to the site teams.
* Monitor project HSE performance through monthly reporting on HSE targets, objectives and KPI’s.
* Assist with scheduled Audits and Assurance Inspections on site and report any breaches, issue noncompliance’s, recommend corrective actions and follow-up to ensure timely closeout.
* Conduct the monthly review of the project risk assessments with Project Management team.
* Coach and mentor HSE Advisors and Officers in incident investigations.
* Develop HSE training so that all employees are aware of their HSE obligations - site inductions.
* Lead incident investigations (5 Whys, and ICAM reports) and follow-up to ensure all corrective actions are implemented and incidents are closed out in a timely manner.
* Monitoring client / site specific HSE requirements including actions raised by the client.
* Establish and monitor HSE registers.
* Monitor and review employees Health Management Plans.
* Liaise with the Primero Health Specialist in regard to injured or ill employees in their fitness for duty and return to work plans.
* Monitor and analyse HSE performance data to identify trends and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
* Support emergency response planning and ensure all personnel are trained in emergency procedures.
* Stay updated with WHS legislative changes and industry best practices.
* Maintain productive and positive relationships with clients, the project team, senior management, and other key stakeholders.
* Demonstrate on a daily basis personal behaviour that uphold Primero Values.
* Show persistence with improvement ideas, including building team member buy-in to ideas.
* Relay information regarding HSE to the HSE manager
What You ‘Can Do’
* Diploma in Work, Health, and Safety.
* Remote site experience in similar roles.
* Minimum of 10 years’ experience within construction or mining industry.
* ICAM, Taproot investigation.
* Current First Aid Certificate.
* Ability to work under pressure in a deadline driven environment.
* Strong people skills and can communicate effectively with both the client and fellow employees.
* Have a keen eye for detail and are well structured and organised.
* Computer literate and appreciation of up to date and accurate record keeping.
* You have strong organisational skills with the ability to manage own time and prioritise a demanding workload.
* Previous experience in FIFO work.
* National Police Clearance required
* Demonstrate the Right to Work in Australia
* Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment Medical & Drug and Alcohol Screen
